Smith Hall is named after Paul Smith, a successful businessman who was an ardent supported, trusted adviser and visionary builder with Hood for 27 years, until he died in 1964. He was president of the Board of Trustees for presidents Henry Stahr, Andrew Truxal and Randle Elliot. Under his leadership, Hood’s enrollment increased by 40 percent, and four buildings were constructed, including Smith Hall.

Smith Hall is for new first-year and transfer students.
