The original building of the current Hodson Science and Technology Center was built in 1957, and the science link was added in 1979. In 2002, a new facility was built in front of and connected to the original building. In 2014, renovations on the third floor wings created classroom and laboratory space for the Center for Coastal and Watershed Studies and the Department of Nursing.

The building houses offices, classrooms, and laboratories for the Departments of Biology, Chemistry and Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science and Information Technology. The science link connected Hodson Science Hall to the biology annex, which was constructed in 1928 as a laundry building and converted to laboratory space in 1975. In 1999, ground was broken for an adjoining new facility, and the original science building was renovated. The new facility, Hodson Science and Technology Center, was funded with gifts from The Hodson Trust, The Whitaker Foundation, the State of Maryland, and gifts from alumni and friends. It was dedicated Oct. 19, 2002.

The original building was named for Lillian Brown Hodson, a member of the Hood College Board of Trustees and the wife of Col. Clarence Hodson of Crisfield, Maryland, whose bequest established The Hodson Trust.
