Hood Hello

Hello there! Good to see you! The “Hood Hello” is the custom of greeting everyone you meet on campus whether you know each other or not. This treasured tradition of warm hellos and genuine smiles helps foster the friendly atmosphere that Hood students and alumni cherish. Throughout the history of the institution, Hood community members have sought to make the campus an open, accepting, and welcoming environment for all. For some students, acknowledging strangers as they walk to class is outside of their comfort zone, but a little discomfort (at first) can go a long way toward growing self-confidence, establishing meaningful relationships with others, and becoming engaged members of the campus community. The concept has been further expanded to include prospective students attending admission programs who participate in “Hood Hello” icebreaker activities and teambuilding exercises.
